A local hourly quote combines the applicable working minimum, time spent moving, agreed travel and any extra services. The crew size, truck, moving date and access all matter.

Ask whether the hourly rate includes GST, how time is rounded, and whether call-out and return travel sit outside the working minimum. AA’s published local guidance uses 15-minute billing increments; your written quote confirms the terms for your move.

These examples use $185.00 per hour including GST, the rate published on our Melbourne service pages. They are arithmetic illustrations, not completed jobs, typical moving times or fixed quotes. The rate and minimum in your written quote apply to your booking.

Standard local move: two movers and one truck at $185.00 per hour including GST. Two-hour working minimum ($370.00), plus one flat 30-minute return / call-out fee of $92.50 including GST: minimum total $462.50. Work after the minimum is rounded up to 15-minute blocks ($46.25 each). Working time includes loading, driving between the addresses and unloading. Additional services and tolls require a separate agreed charge.

What changes the time needed?

Apartment or unit

Count storage-cage and balcony items. Check service-lift dimensions, booking windows, stairs and the carry from the loading position. A lift does not remove all handling time.

Include the garage, shed, outdoor furniture and packed cartons. Flag beds or large furniture needing dismantling, and any gap between vacating and getting your new keys.

Prepare a useful inventory

Give us the load and access together.

A bedroom count alone cannot tell us the volume or handling time. Build a room-by-room list, count cartons and identify heavy or fragile pieces. Tell us about stairs, narrow entries, long carries and additional stops at both ends.

For an interstate move, the route, collection and delivery windows, load and any storage gap need a separate assessment.

Clear answers before moving day

Does a two-bedroom home have a fixed moving price?

No. Two homes with the same bedroom count can have very different loads and access. Include cartons, stored belongings, both addresses and any lift or stair details for an individual estimate.

Is the working minimum the full price?

Not necessarily. Check whether travel and extras are charged separately, and what applies if the work takes longer than the minimum.

Are weekend and public-holiday rates the same?

The standard two-person local service uses the same $185 hourly rate. Availability is confirmed for your date. Extra crew and specialist services need their own quote.

Can I get an estimate before booking?

Yes. Use the online enquiry to provide your route, furniture list and access details, or request a callback if you need help. An estimate or enquiry does not confirm a booking.
